Car Parking

We have dedicated staff car parking areas at our hospitals. Anyone parking in these areas is required to display a valid staff car parking permit.

Between the hours of 9am and 4pm (or any part thereof) Monday to Friday, car parking fees will be paid via a daily car parking scratch card which will be displayed in conjunction with the permit. You do not need a scratch card outside of these hours.

 

You may only apply for permits for vehicles for which you or your spouse are the registered keeper, or vehicles that are leased to you under a bona fide leasing agreement. You may not register another member of staff’s vehicle under any circumstances.

Permits

Permits are purchased for the financial year (1 April to 31 March) and must be renewed every year. If you join during the year, the cost may be reduced.

Annual charge

Staff joining between 1 April and 30 June

Online: £22

Staff joining between 1 July and 31 September

Online: £16.50

Staff joining between 1 October and 31 December

Online: £11

Staff joining between 1 January and 31 March

Online: £5.50

Permit costs will be paid through salary deduction for staff employed by the trust or cheque made payable to Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust for all others.

Scratch cards

Each scratch card contains five days' parking.

The cost of the scratch card is dependent upon your AFC NHS Pay Band, not your salary (see below). Therefore as GP Trainees you will need to work out your full time salary and select the band this fits into. This applies to less than full time trainees as well, and you should work out your full time salary not your part time salary.

Please put your manager as Kemi Alade- (kemi.alade@nhs.net), any applications which are sent to the PGMC will be rejected as we cannot verify your salary.

You will need scratch cards if you are parking on site between the hours of 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Scratch cards should be hung from your rear view mirror or left on your dashboard so they can be easily read.

Barriered car parking rates are not determined by salary but have a set fee of £104 per month.

Scratchcards can be ordered online, which will be processed by the Facilities Systems Administrator.

Processing of scratchcard orders may take up to seven days.

Payment will be deducted from salary for Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust staff. For all other users, payment will be by credit or debit card online. There is no facility for cash payments. Scratchcard purchases are non-refundable.

Restriction for those within two mile radius

A two-mile exclusion zone, whereby if you live within two miles of your main worksite, you will not be able to park onsite in main working hours (from Monday to Friday 9am-4pm), although you will be allowed to purchase a scratchcard that allows for up to 20 days of onsite parking per year. Importantly, this will not affect blue badge holders or domiciliary staff, and all staff can appeal to be exempt.

Exemptions for not displaying a scratchcard and permit

Official trust vehicles and voluntary workers will be exempt. Details of all official trust vehicles will be held on a database and will not be required to display a scratchcard.

NPL as for last year trainees do not have to apply themselves. HEE KSS have sent a list of all GP trainees to the team that deals with this in NHS England.  NHS England has said that as long as they have your details all trainees are considered to be on the NPL list. 

Whilst HEE KSS can check if they have sent an individual’s details over they cannot confirm the following:

  • Why your names are not showing on the NPL

  • How long it will take for names to show

 

Medical Indemnity as in recent years HEE KSS bulk indemnity with the MDU continues for this year.  Any trainees who have signed up previously will be contacted by the MDU with details of their cover for this year.

Payslips

Payslips are available to collect from the Epsom PGMC office. These will be moving to paperless, online copies within the next few months. Please ensure you have access to ESR to be able to view these before the switchover.
